This Health Care Reform = Giant Coffin Nail for America
We still do not know if the Democrats efforts in Congress to give America a Health Care Reform package by Christmas will succeed but it is becoming clearer that whatever the outcome will be at the end, it is BAD news for America and its citizens. In fact, it will be a huge coffin nail for our country! The real tragedy though is the way this has been put together. This bill was for the most part written, altered and amended behind closed doors by the Democrat’s leadership and then – where necessary – amended again to suit the wishes and demands by a handful of Democrat ‘hold-out’ Senators who then also had to be bought off with hundreds of millions of dollars in tax dollars for their respective States, they were not hold-outs, there were hold-ups.
Political prostitution is what we call this here at Common Sense University but it is nothing new for Congress. This has been going on for a great number of years and not just by Democrats but by Republicans as well. The saddest part of this all is that our country’s highest elective body, namely Congress, has sunk to this low level of ‘doing business‘. They call it ‘Politics as usual’, we call it discusting, dishonest and even outright criminal. Principles, honor, commitments, values or virtues have been lost a long time ago and there is apparently nothing we can do about it. Except for one thing: Not to re-elect these people. This has happened in the past and it has worked in some instances but after a while, the climate in Washington D.C. corrupts these people and they lose their good intentions as promised during their campaigns and simply join the club.
Without delving into too much detail of this piece of legislation, we will just scrape the surface and ask the question: “How dumb do you Democrat Senators think we are?” You want us to believe that…….
- by cutting nearly one half a trillion dollars out of Medicare and in doing so, you are saving and even strengthening the program;
- by raising nearly one half a trillion dollars in taxes, you are bringing the costs down for everybody;
- this will save the country from bankruptcy because health care costs without this reform would just simply rise to vastly higher levels;
- competition among the health insurance providers by allowing coverage across State lines is bad and would not reduce health care costs;
- true tort reform (malpractive lawsuits etc) is ineffective and would not reduce costs.
Common sense and logic should tell anybody that this is pure nonsense to put it mildly. In fact, the opposite is the case. By taking complete control of one-sixth of the American economy, they, the Democrats, are hurrying the demise of our country into socialism and changing it forever from what we have known it to be for over two hundred years. This legislation is one giant coffin nail for America and together with our vastly rising national debt and the unfunded mandates of Social Security and Medicare, the lid is getting pretty solidly shut and we wonder if it ever can be lifted up again.
This is NOT a Happy Holiday Season for America and it is not the economy: It is the President and the Democrats in Congress that are causing it by their reckless action to rush this legislation towards becoming law. Shameful does not even describe this type of behavior, we think it is outright destructive if not criminal for the country!
