The Wheels are slowly coming off

For several weeks now but especially ever since the highly anticipated news conference by President Obama on July 22 on prime time television, it appears as if America has awakened to the reality that sheer irrationality and utter nonsense has its limits. This news conference did absolutely nothing for the President. He repeated his campaign slogans and rhetoric endlessly and called again for Congress to finish a comprehensive universal health care reform bill for him to sign before the so called August recess. But it seems now, what he said sounded hollow and totally unconvincing and had therefore no real impact. Ironically, the last question directed at the President at his news conference had more of an after life than the main topic of the meeting, namely universal health care reform. But more about that later.

The following day, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Democrat from Nevada declared that after consultation with some of his committee chairmen, the Senate would postpone its efforts to produce such legislation until after the August recess, i.e., some time in September at the earliest. At the same time, the Democrat Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi said that they would probably pass a bill in the House, that she had the votes in favor for it. This was an out-and-out lie because the hold-up in the House had been the opposition of 52 moderate Democrats and not, as widely and falsely reported the Republicans, who balked at voting FOR it. For clarity, there are 256 Democrats in the House of Representatives and they need only 218 votes to pass any legislation, the Democrats do not need a single Republican vote to pass anything they like! From day to day, statements were made by members of the Democrat majority in the House that a vote on health care reform would be taken last week only to be reversed by others. In the end, the House of Representatives did not vote on the measure last week.

The month of July has not been a good one for the President. A majority of Americans are beginning to believe that the hurriedly approved and signed “Stimulus Bill” has not really shown any impact whatsoever after five months, the job numbers are still looking bleak (to be generous), unemployment is still going up and there is not really any end in sight. The President and members of his cabinet are now saying that they expect the unemployment numbers to go into double digits.

Is it not curious to anyone, that in early February, the President was warning America that unemployment could reach nine percent (9%) if his stimulus bill would not be passed immediately! This threat prompted Congress to pass it and now these same people are talking about unemployment over ten percent! Explanation: Things simply were worse than analyzed! This was another way of blaming President Bush for this mess. Excuse us: How was the previous administration guilty of your own ‘miscalculations’, Mr. Obama and cohorts? This all smacks of deception and we believe that the average American is beginning to doubt what is being said by the President and his administration. Even members of the liberal main stream media are now beginning to express some doubt about the accuracy of the President’s continued rhetoric. They also follow the polls and the numbers are falling for the President. We are not placing too much importance in these polls since their accuracy is questionable in our opinion.

Coming back to the July 22 presidential news conference, the last question asked was about an incident in Cambridge, Mass. between a black Harvard professor and a local police sergeant that resulted in the arrest of the professor. The President’s response included that he felt that the Cambridge police had acted ‘stupidly’ in his opinion even though he clarified that he did not know all the facts about the case. This was apparently ‘off script’ and the President should have declined to comment. But he embellished it by saying that racial tensions continued to exist between white policeman and people of color. This caused several reactions by many people in America and this story developed a life on its own.

We here at this site believe that if any person acted ‘stupidly’ – to use the President’s own word – it was President Barack Obama himself for even trying to answer the question posed to him. But as we have seen before, without his trusted teleprompter, he is only human. But this all contributes to him losing the hyped up support and glorification in the eyes of many voters in America that carried him to victory last November. Many of them are the so called moderates and independents who believed Obama to be the person who could improve things for America and the world.

The members of Congress are all now on their ‘August recess’, a month long vacation where they will also be in their own districts and home States and meet with constituents. It remains to be seen what they will hear during this time and how it will affect their upcoming deliberations and votes on universal health care reform. Especially in view of the fact that more and more details about this bill are becoming public knowledge and they are generally not well received by people because of its increased costs and limitations on individual freedoms. The differences between President Obama’s promises on health care and the content of the Democrat drafted legislation are becoming known and are very stark and not in a positive way.

The numbers simply do not make sense: How logical is it to believe what President Obama has been saying for all these months? He wants to give health insurance to the allegedly 47 million currently uninsured (of which over ten million are legal and illegal aliens) and he wants us to believe that it will bring the upward spiraling health care costs down for everyone. That is about as logical as saying that one can build a 4000 square foot house cheaper than a 3200 square foot house, its utter nonsense and he knows it but he must think that we are all too stupid to figure it out for ourselves but that we trust him in all he says.

We here at Common Sense University tend to believe that the glory of Obama’s presidency is fading, the bloom is coming off the roses and the wheels are slowly coming off too. We would not place bets in favor of passage of comprehensive universal health care reform at this time, at least not one anchored in the promises of the President all during last years campaign and ever since.

    Brittancus Says:

Millions of illegal immigrants broke the laws of a sovereign nation! We must go after the purveyors who attract these, poor uneducated people! To be honest I’m fed up with supporting any person, who crosses the border, stays on an expired tourist visa. The corporate world have for decades, dumped these people on the doorstep of Taxpayers. We, as Americans cannot even access, half the benefits that are handed to illegals on a free platter. Don’t let the fumblers in Washington weaken E-Verify–part of the SAVE ACT. Politicians must not dissolve such local police laws as 287(g) or severely cut back on lightening raids by ICE. As you read this commentary we have the US chamber of Commerce, ACLU, The Council of Foreign Relations and a whole retinue of business concerns, who don’t believe they should be dictated to–BY A LARGE SLICE OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

Our laws have been manipulated for the benefit of ruthless organizations, who runs on profiteering and corruption, with the big fat dollar bill. Alas, it has become–THEM–against us. YES! To a orderly points system for the ultra skilled immigrant, who does not feed at the public welfare trough? But–NO–to the poor, uneducated–who cannot support themselves or their larger families. We must build on the technological illegal worker extraction process called E-Verify. We must rigidly penalize all employers who refuse to follow immigration enforcement. There must be adequate funding to construct more deterrents in the SAVE ACT, to make it impossible for illegal labor to fraudulently bypass E-Verify. We can no longer afford to be a welfare country, for anybody who enters the United States.

The usual imbeciles in the Democratic leadership, Reid, Pelosi, Feinstein and most you can guess for yourself. Now if the Democratic health care package goes through–TAXPAYERS WE WILL STILL BE UNDERWRITING all the foreigners that businesses can use. There is a sordid conspiracy going on with a group called “IMMIGRATIONWORKSUSA” brought and paid for by corporate–CHEAP LABOR–executives.DON’T LISTEN TO WHAT THEY SUPPOSEDLY INSPIRE. This group wants the Free movement of foreign labor, across our border without any restrictions All the truth, without the lies at NUMBERSUSA. DO NOT STOP HARASSING THE LAWMAKERS, AS YOUR CALLS ARE REALLY WORKING. Contact your lawmaker TODAY! at 202-224-3121 INFORM ICE IF YOU KNOW OF A PARASITE BUSINESS, UTILIZING ILLEGAL LABOR.
