How Pathetic!

On Tuesday of last week, Senator Hillary Clinton made the following comment during another Democrat Candidate debates in Nevada: “President Bush is over in the Gulf now begging the Saudis and others to drop the price of oil. How pathetic.” She continued:  “We should have an energy policy right now, putting people to work in green collar jobs as a way to stave off the recession, moving us towards energy independence.”

Common Sense Authors has tried in the past to stay out of the Presidential races on an individual basis and not comment on statements being made by the numerous candidates. However, we think this one deserves some attention. We think that while ‘campaign trail language’ is allowed to be somewhat excessive at times when candidates get carried away while praising their own abilities and achievements in comparison to their opponents records, yet a certain amount of decorum and respect is expected nonetheless.

While Mrs. Clinton’s first part of her statement was a complete missrepresentation of fact, the second part was a summation of total nonsense. She knows better but she played to the anti-Bush sentiment in the minds of the members of the Democrat Party. Unfortunately, these people believe anything negative about President Bush, and Mrs. Clinton will not miss an opportunity to inflame their emotions.

Let us look at this from a point of reality. President Bush’s just completed 8-day visit to the Middle East had more than one objective: He first and foremost wanted to give encouragement to both sides of the Israeli/Palestinian peace process so he spent several days in Israel and the West Bank. Then he visited several Arab countries in the Gulf region and conferred with their leaders about many issues, the threat of Iran to its neighbors, support for the Iraqi government in their struggle to become a Democratic State and lastly, the President also spoke about the high prices of oil and its potential fallout to the worldwide economy. Urging the Saudis to consider increasing the production of oil is not begging but something we would expect from our President. Should he not represent our interests? Are lower oil prices not in our interest? Former Democrat Presidential candidate, Governor Bill Richardson from New Mexico stated during an earlier candidates’ debate that he (Richardson) had gone to the Saudis and attempted to persuade them to increase oil production while he was Secretary of Energy under President Bill Clinton. We are certain that he did not make this trip without the knowledge of that President; instead he was sent there by Clinton.

The second part of Mrs. Clinton’s statement is total gobbledygook in that it just seems very convenient to appear as a solution to our energy woes in America. Who is she talking about when she speaks of ‘putting people to work in green collar jobs as a way to stave off the recession’? This is utter nonsense but they are wonderful sound bites on the campaign trail and the Bush-haters just eat them up. There is simply nothing that our current President can do right in their way of thinking. These peoples hatred towards Bush is so strong they can only be pitied as they stew in their daily miseries.  The amazing part in all this though is the fact that the media is a willing accomplice in this nonsense. A statement like Mrs. Clinton’s should have immediately resulted in a follow-up question by the debate moderators, Brian Williams and Tim Russert of NBC News. But no, they left it alone. Common sense should have required an answer to the question: “What is a green collar job, how many are there and who are the people you want to put to work in what capacity.”

No, we cannot expect members of the overwhelmingly liberal media to challenge a Democrat party candidate. You want to talk about what’s pathetic? In our humble opinion, this was pathetic! After all, Mrs. Clinton is running to become our next President and the voters of America deserve answers to statements when made in debates during the campaign. Clinton’s statement was outrageous in more than one way: First off, she attacked and ridiculed in a demeaning way the current President who by the way is not running again for this office. Secondly, she throws out a collection of complete nonsense in that they, her solutions are not at all defined and are not even close to solving our energy dependence problems. We shall not even try to guess or understand what she meant by all that. But we just want to lament the current climate in our media in that they are so obviously biased in favor of Democrat candidates that they do not even try to show a smitten of objectivity.

We here at this site bemoan the fact that in today’s world, tact, decorum and respect for the office of the President has apparently gone by the wayside. America’s media is overwhelmingly biased towards the Democrats and liberals that they cannot report honestly any longer.

You want to talk about pathetic, media bias and Mrs. Clinton’s statements are both  pathetic!
