To the best of our knowledge, there seldom has been an election where the liberal media has not shown the expected independence and neutrality one would assume of the membership of this group. No, the liberals have openly shown their bias towards and favoritism of Democrats in most elections for the past fifty or more years. This has not changed this year either. On Sunday, October 10, the Los Angeles Times listed their endorsements of candidates and it could have been mistaken for the suggestion list of the Democrat Party. The Times went right down the line Democrat, Democrat, Democrat and so on. They even tried to give reasons for their endorsements and the rationale sounded irrational for the most part. But one has to give them credit for honesty in their bias, to the people at the Times, there is simply no vote-worthy Republican, period.
The liberal media in general has been pounding on the Tea Party movement ever since it appeared in the spring of last year. To most liberals, they are simply are bunch of extremists, cooks and right-wing radicals. To us here at Common Sense University, the Tea Party members are nothing more than conservatives who are against deficit spending and the fast rising national debt and for lower taxes and less regulations, it’s that simple!! But that is a huge threat to liberals and progressives (as they would like to be called) and the only weapon they have is smear, slander and ugly character assassinations because they (the liberals) cannot rationally debate the issues and produce evidence that their ideologies are better for America.
And yet, this year is somewhat different: The liberal media – with a few exceptions – has apparently come to the conclusion that they can no longer defend the indefensible. They further recognize that their views are ever so fast growing away from the general publics view. Poll after poll has maintained that the American people overwhelmingly are no longer enamored by President Obama and his actions since becoming President. They have strongly expressed their disagreement with the Democrat’s actions, also called “accomplishments” by a few, by passing legislation against the will of the people. The American public is growing more and more concerned over the fast increasing national debt, the out-of-control spending by the President and his fellow Democrats in Congress, the stagnant economy with unemployment hovering around 10 % and the enactment of the healthcare bill which appears to be not keeping at all what it was promising until its passage. The media’s pronouncement to the contrary, the public does no longer trust what they are being told by the liberal journalists and talking-heads on television.
This has to be a concern for the press and the evidence is clearly reflected in the reduction of the readership and the loss of listeners on TV. And so, some of them, it seems, have decided that it is no longer viable to stay the course by supporting liberal causes and President whom they had hailed as the genius who could fix all our problems and make things right. While not yet by all or even a majority, it is interesting to witness some journalists trying to distance themselves from Democrats and the President. The editorial boards of newspapers and magazines across the country are trying to be less biased and more objective in their writings, they recognize the reality that the American public is no longer buying what they are selling and they seem to be adjusting to this new phenomenon called “the general public’s basic instincts and intelligence”.
It is our belief that the media will not play the large role it used to play in previous elections when they pounced on Republicans over artificially declared wrong actions while they fanatically excused misdeeds when committed by Democrats. The voting public just is not buying their biased reporting any longer and that is a good thing for America.
