Media Factor versus Voters intelligence

To the best of our knowledge, there seldom has been an election where the liberal media has not shown the expected independence and neutrality one would assume of the membership of this group. No, the liberals have openly shown their bias towards and favoritism of Democrats in most elections for the past fifty or more years. This has not changed this year either. On Sunday, October 10, the Los Angeles Times listed their endorsements of candidates and it could have been mistaken for the suggestion list of the Democrat Party. The Times went right down the line Democrat, Democrat, Democrat and so on. They even tried to give reasons for their endorsements and the rationale sounded irrational for the most part. But one has to give them credit for honesty in their bias, to the people at the Times, there is simply no vote-worthy Republican, period.

The liberal media in general has been pounding on the Tea Party movement ever since it appeared in the spring of last year. To most liberals, they are simply are bunch of extremists, cooks and right-wing radicals. To us here at Common Sense University, the Tea Party members are nothing more than conservatives who are against deficit spending and the fast rising national debt and for lower taxes and less regulations, it’s that simple!! But that is a huge threat to liberals and progressives (as they would like to be called) and the only weapon they have is smear, slander and ugly character assassinations because they (the liberals) cannot rationally debate the issues and produce evidence that their ideologies are better for America.

And yet, this year is somewhat different: The liberal media – with a few exceptions – has apparently come to the conclusion that they can no longer defend the indefensible. They further recognize that their views are ever so fast growing away from the general publics view. Poll after poll has maintained that the American people overwhelmingly are no longer enamored by President Obama and his actions since becoming President. They have strongly expressed their disagreement with the Democrat’s actions, also called “accomplishments” by a few, by passing legislation against the will of the people. The American public is growing more and more concerned over the fast increasing national debt, the out-of-control spending by the President and his fellow Democrats in Congress, the stagnant economy with unemployment hovering around 10 % and the enactment of the healthcare bill which appears to be not keeping at all what it was promising until its passage. The media’s pronouncement to the contrary, the public does no longer trust what they are being told by the liberal journalists and talking-heads on television.

This has to be a concern for the press and the evidence is clearly reflected in the reduction of the readership and the loss of listeners on TV. And so, some of them, it seems, have decided that it is no longer viable to stay the course by supporting liberal causes and President whom they had hailed as the genius who could fix all our problems and make things right. While not yet by all or even a majority, it is interesting to witness some journalists trying to distance themselves from Democrats and the President. The editorial boards of newspapers and magazines across the country are trying to be less biased and more objective in their writings, they recognize the reality that the American public is no longer buying what they are selling and they seem to be adjusting to this new phenomenon called “the general public’s basic instincts and intelligence”.

It is our belief that the media will not play the large role it used to play in previous elections when they pounced on Republicans over artificially declared wrong actions while they fanatically excused misdeeds when committed by Democrats. The voting public just is not buying their biased reporting any longer and that is a good thing for America.

Deciding Factors: Voter Intensity + Voting Fraud

It is almost impossible these days to watch television or read a newspaper without being bombarded about the very latest polls taken in political races prior to the upcoming mid-term elections on November 2, 2010. This is in and of itself nothing new during election years, it happens every two years in America. These polls might somewhat accurately reflect the sentiment and attitudes of voters even if they – the polls – differ in how they are conducted. Some of them are taken by asking anybody, others are only asking registered voters and another type of poll asks only “likely” voters. These tend to be more accurate than other polls but in the end, they are only snapshots for the days these polls are taken. And while successive and frequent polls can indicate trends, the most important poll, of course, is the one taking place on November 2. That is the day when the vast majority of votes are being cast at polling places around the country.

For us here at Common Sense University two other factors weigh very heavily this year, maybe more so than others. They are called ‘Voter Intensity and Turnout’ and the amount of ‘Voting Fraud’. Unlike other mid-term elections in the past, it is clear that this year’s will be different. Ever since April of 2009 when the so called Tea Party movement began, we have seen incumbents being challenged and even defeated during primaries and these folks are now getting ready for the general election in two weeks. While results of their efforts cannot be truly evaluated at this time, we believe that their impact will be immense. They have grown stronger and better organized and will without a doubt play a significant role in the outcome of many races. The Voter Intensity is so very strong this year that they will make quite a number of polls look ridiculously wrong after the votes have been counted. The Tea Party movement has been successful to maintain if not build on their momentum from the primaries and their messages will be reflected in the voter turnout.

This leaves the issue of ‘Voting Fraud’. With the near financial demise of ACORN in the past year, we do not think that voting fraud will play as important and widespread a role this time around. The voter intensity is simply not there on the Democrat’s side and it is assumed that they will not turn out in the large numbers as they did two years ago. While we have no evidence whatsoever, we assume that the Tea Party membership has also plans to tackle voter fraud by having members volunteer to be officials in many, many precincts in America if for no other reason than to look for irregularities and stopping possible violations of voting rules. This should keep Voting Fraud to a minimum and therewith lessen its impact on races. If nothing else, these attempts should be limited and not be large enough to effect the outcome of the elections in any contest anywhere.

This would be a major improvement over past elections and while it may not amount to any significant shift in the outcome, it would definitely be a good thing for America as a whole. If we all could at least believe in the end that the elections – regardless of outcome – were held accurately and proper, it would represent a victory for our country.

A lot can happen between now and November 2 and it could effect the final results of races but we believe that an increase in Voting Intensity and a reduction in Voting Fraud could be the real winners and the strongest elements this year. We hope that we will be proven right in a few weeks.

Democrats only Platform: Smear and Slander

With just three weeks to go until the Mid-term elections, it becomes quite clear that the Democrats in Congress only have one plank in their platform: Since they apparently do not want to run on their record “accomplishments” of the last two years in Congress, they are reduced to their one last, yet often successfully used platform: The smear and slander of their opponents!!!

And it is not just happening in Congressional races, it is  also quite evident in gubernatorial duels in several States. And with the ever compliant liberal media in their corner, there is absolutely no problem in expanding the slander and baseless lies and distortions. One of the most egregious ones is the Governors race in California where Democrat Jerry Brown with the help of some of his fanatical liberal supporters made an issue out of a non-issue. The Republican candidate, Meg Whitman, had employed for about nine years a Mexican housekeeper hired through an employment agency who had the required legal documentation to work in California. When Ms. Whitman let it be known in April of 2009 that she planned to run for Governor, the housekeeper confessed to her employer in June 2009 that she had worked for her wrongly with forged documents and committed perjury when signing some papers falsely and was illegally in this country. Ms. Whitman was surprised (and disappointed) and did what she had to do, she terminated the employment with Nicky Diaz and that was it. Until Jerry Brown and his cohorts got word of this episode and decided to “out” the former Whitman housekeeper, Ms. Nicky Diaz Santillan, parade her in front of cameras with her notorious attorney Gloria Allred and accuse Meg Whitman of wrongly employing an illegal alien. The result of this action is now that it has been turned into the major campaign issue in California and the liberal media just loves to keep this non-story alive.

For any objective observer, it should be quite clear that this is nothing but smear and slander in its purest form. The State of California is confronted with major budgetary issues and other problems that are truly troublesome and while Ms. Whitman is trying to stay on message and desires to present her plans and solutions to the voting public, the liberal media will not allow her to do so but instead will do anything to keep this “ illegal housekeeper” issue in the minds of the voters.

And this is not the only race where the Democrats have resorted to this shameful behavior. In the State of Delaware the Republican candidate, Ms. Christine O’Donnell, is being attacked for comments she made more than a decade ago about things she had done or participated in in high school, more than twenty years earlier. And the media plays right along and explodes these kinds of stories. Nothing seems to matter to them – the media membership – but the election of their like-minded liberal Democrat party candidates. This has happened before, of course, and it has worked well in the past. For example, Senator Barbara Boxer from California has won all her previous elections by slandering and smearing her opponents with successful character assassinations.

It remains to be seen, how successful these tactics will work this year. The people in America are in general not satisfied with how the President and his Democrats in Congress have handled things at all, especially as they pertain to the economy. Will the smears and slanders once again convince some (a majority of) voters that the Democrats are preferable to Republicans? Common Sense Politics should get the answer to this question and know in about three weeks. It would be a shame if smears and slander win out again!

The Countdown: Four Weeks to go!

Until the Mid-term elections on November 2, we will write on a number of issues and the important a role they play in what is at stake on that day. One of the major ones is the issue of TAXES! It is important to understand where we have been during the years since 2001 and 2003 when Congress and then-President G.W. Bush enacted reductions on all Federal income taxes, period. This resulted in millions of Americans no longer having to pay this tax and it allowed all income earners in this country to pay less. There were many other tax reductions as well such as the Estate tax, Capital gains tax and many more. The only problem with those laws was that they were term-limited. In other words, they are all due to expire at midnight this December 31, 2010.

First of all, we here at Common Sense University believe that this was a major flaw and should never have happened. No, we do not mean the lowered tax rates but the term-limitation attached to those so called ‘Bush-Tax cuts’. That is in our opinion a major fault in what is wrong in Washington D.C. The apparent horse trading under the misnomer called negotiations. It shows the gutlessness of our Representatives in Congress and we fault President Bush as well in that he failed to beat the drum in those years and tell the American people that these reductions were only good for these past years up until now. He probably felt that he would no longer be in office and could not be  held accountable what future Presidents and Congresses did. We shudder to think about the question: ‘What if the Founding Fathers had given us a Constitution valid for example for only one hundred years?’ We believe that laws should be made permanent. Congress and the President have the power to repeal them or replace them; they should not make laws that are only good for a few years. The only thing “term-limited” should be the years an individual can be serving in Congress (House and Senate). We have this limit for Presidencies, why not also for lawmakers?

The time for a decision on these laws has now come and one of the major debates currently is whether or not to let these ‘Bush’ tax cuts expire or not. One thing is certain, if Congress does nothing, every income earner will pay more in taxes come January 1, 2011, period!!! Common sense tells us that it is very detrimental to raise taxes by letting the current lower tax rates expire during economic hard times (a recession) in that it gives consumers less money to spend and makes an economic recovery less likely. It is important to fully understand that doing nothing (on the part of Congress) is the equivalent of raising taxes. Yet the Democrats from the President on down tell us that they are against raising taxes. They are controlling Congress at least until early January of next year and their inaction will result in increased tax rates for all Americans. But, they claim, they are against raising taxes. This is typical ‘Washington double-speak’. They should be called on that every time they appear in public and open their mouths during the next weeks of campaigning.

But they do have a plan they say: The Democrats (the President and the Democrat majority in Congress) want to extend the tax cuts for all people earning less than $250,000.00 per year for a not yet determined number of years. But the rich, these ‘evil’ creatures that earn so much money should pay more in taxes and their tax rates should be increased and the easiest way to do this is to let their current rates expire by the end of 2010. The Republican are against this in that they believe that All tax rates including the ones for the wealthy in America should be extended. The Republicans correctly claim that it is the ‘rich’ who create jobs and that is what this country needs more than anything else in today‘s economy. The Democrats respond by calling the Republicans “the party of No” and hope that people believe that. It is, of course, a totally false claim but their class warfare strategies have worked in the past and they hope it will work once again.

And to be honest, we think it might work in that the millions of ignoramuses and liberal leaning people of America will believe this and they will shut their ears and minds to rational thinking, also known as common sense. This problem can only be solved by not re-electing Democrats who hold these beliefs, it’s that simple! It is high time for the country as a whole to wake up and come to realize that the Democrats’ belief of ‘Government is the solution’ is so totally flawed and that we better end their ruling role in Washington D.C.

Experienced notary brings her business to you

San Diego, CA.  San Diego Mobile Notary is launching a brand new experience that brings the full services of a notary to your door.  This innovate approach to the notary arena will be a benefit to individuals crunched for time and businesses seeking a convenient solution.

While there are many notaries in the San Diego area Melissa Gadler-Hamm, the notary behind San Diego Mobile Notary, isn’t concerned.  Melissa says, “Corporation (mostly financial of some sort) and institutions (mostly educational and beaurocratical) often are prohibited from notarizing documents that aren’t related to their company or institution.”  This creates the need to seek an independent notary for many and San Diego Mobile Notary excels in offering notary services often within 24 hours.

San Diego Mobile Notary’s mobile service is a great convenience as the number of commuters outside of the county drive in for work increases.  Melissa agrees, “Too many times people race through town looking for a notary public during their lunch hour, a time that San Diego notaries are either busy or away for lunch, only to find that their lunch is over and the few notaries they visited were gone or couldn’t notarize their documents.”

“Avoid traveling to a notary that may or may not be busy, or even there for that matter.  I am the person for the job,” Melissa confidently states, “and will take care of all your San Diego notary public services.”
