Re-writing Presidential Qualities for Senator Clinton to Include ‘Congenital Lying’
About two weeks ago, Common Sense Politics posted an article about the Hate Rants of Barack Obama’s pastor, it is therefore only fair that we take a closer look at what happened in the Clinton campaign. On three different occasions including as recent as March 17, 2008, Democrat Presidential candidate, Senator Hillary Clinton told about her experiences during a visit to Bosnia in March 1996 with daughter Chelsea. She detailed that they came under sniper fire and had to dodge bullets leaving the airplane and running into a military shelter. She remembered vividly their hair-raising ‘corkscrew’ landing in war-torn Bosnia and that someone had said ”There might be sniper fire.” These and other comments were made to highlight her foreign policy experiences during her campaign and portray her as ready to be President from day One.
Her statements were immediately contradicted by comedian Sinbad who happened to have been on the same trip with the then First Lady on an USO tour to buck up the troops on the ground. Singer Sheryl Crowe was also on this particular trip. When questioned about the contradiction, Clinton campaign spokespersons just told the questioners that Sinbad was just a comedian and his recollections were not to be taken seriously.
Her claims were contradicted by actual film footage of her deplaning and the following arrival ceremony where a little Bosnian girl read a poem to Hillary Clinton and her daughter and kissed the First Lady on the cheeks. In addition to this, military personnel including the pilot of the plane bringing Mrs. Clinton to Bosnia spoke up and totally contradicted her. When her statements were no longer defensible, Hillary came out and said ”I misspoke!”
We here at this website do not agree with this. It was not a misstatement on her part; it had been all along a blatant lie! It was designed to prove that she was ready to be President of the United States of America from day one based on her experiences during the past thirty-five years and therefore a tool to convince people to vote for her. This is not just embellishment nor is it slight exaggeration, this is outright lying. When a fisherman tells you he caught a 12 pound fish and after a couple of beers, the fish grows to 15 or even 20 pounds, that is called embellishment. And should the fisherman be challenged about his catch growing in weight the following day, he might say that he ‘misspoke’ or slightly ‘exaggerated’.
But what candidate Clinton said was an outright lie without basis of fact! The only thing factual about her statements was that she was there in Bosnia. But that should not give her license to totally make up an incidence that never happened in order to build up her credentials for the job she is seeking. Besides, if her statement would be truthful (that she knows what it means to be in a dangerous situation and to run for cover) then we would have to conclude that millions of German women during World War II (when they dodged bullets and bombs dropping down on cities in Germany) are experienced enough to qualify for the Presidency of America. We could add millions of other women around the world (Japan, Vietnam, Korea, Afghanistan and Iraq just to name a few) to have the experience to become President.
Now this is all nonsense, of course, but for Mrs. Clinton to lie so blatantly to people during campaign stops is more than outrageous, it should be a strong disqualifier! What does that tell us about her? We know that she has made statements in the past that were proven outright lies but she did not run for President then. In fact, she lied so many times on so many occasions during the years of being First Lady, that well-respected New York Times syndicated political columnist William Safire called her in 1996 a ‘congenital liar’. We are not making this up, these are facts and can easily be verified by checking on Mr. Safire.
Why is this important at this time? The Democrats are still in the primary stage of voting for candidates, Clinton and Obama, to select their candidate for the primary election in November. We here at Common Sense Authors believe this to be a good time for professionals in the field of psychology and psychiatry to speak up and analyze Mrs. Clinton’s personality and her willingness to use anything to become the next President. What would be especially important to know should be an answer to the question “What will she be or do as President of this country and thereby the leader of the free world?” Will she just lie when it suits her in order to get her way or attain her objective? There is great danger in electing someone to this esteemed office in light of the facts we know about her now and have known for some time. Do we just ignore this and hope she develops integrity and honesty? We certainly expect to trust and believe our president. This would not be the case for Senator Clinton
